Feeding ProgramMonday Lunch Feeding Program Re-Opens After Two Month Interruption
Mission Base feeding program at Victory House Baja has been closed since December in anticipation of the winter rainy season.
Until we have a suitable indoor location for the neighborhood feeding program, we are subject to interruptions due to inclement weather. We decided, rather than have cancellations on the day of the event and still having people showing up to see if we are going to serve today, to simply close up until the rainy, and cold season was behind us.
About 40 of our neighbors showed up today for our un-advertised restart of the Monday program. Everyone was pretty happy to be back visiting with us and I'm sure the word will spread quickly that we're open once again.
At times we have had close to one-hundred visitors over for lunch, most of which are women and children. It has been a delight to build relationships with our new friends and to see their desire to give when the opportunities have been presented.
We are still looking for a sponsor for this evangelistic program. The word is presented each week and we have seen confessions for Jesus through this ministry.
We have also just had our first dinner and a movie night here at the mission base. About thirty people from the neighbor came to have a dinner of bbq'd hamburgers with Cindy's triffle desert, which was followed by a Christian movie we rented from a local Christian book store. We haven't yet decided to make this a regular event but we hope to do it on a monthly basis.
Included in the plans for the missions base is an addition to the house with the main purpose of being a dining room capable of seating fifty people. This will also be a great multi-purpose area which will give us the space for an indoor feeding area, a bible study room, and the space for a small church service as well. This addition will have an outside entrance and visitors will not need to enter through the house.
